Orzo♥Coffee has joined this month the Slow Food UK Supporters’ Scheme a scheme aimed at companies interested in working with Slow Food UK and engaging with the UK food industry sector to support nutritional, sustainable and locally produced food.
“Since we started - almost a year ago – we has been keen to support initiatives that value the environment, healthy eating and that help local communities.” says Roberta owner of the company. “This reflects our company ethos and applying for the Slow Food Supporters's Scheme has come naturally”.
Orzo♥Coffee embraces the love for ‘slow food’. It is made with ground roasted barley, organically grown in the Veneto region (Italy) and it is 100% caffeine free, it is slowly roasted to preserve the nutritional properties of barley, following the original Italian tradition. It is made with a specific variety of barley, called ‘orzo mondo’ (hulless or ‘naked’ barley). While this variety of barley is not currently grown in the UK, Orzo♥Coffee travels only a short distance across Europe, compared with other hot drinks on the markets such as coffee and teas.
Like the Slow Food movement, Orzo♥Coffee comes from Italy and brings to the UK a taste for natural and healthy produce. “We share and support the values of Slow Food UK, we believe in local sustainable development and the role of people and communities in safeguarding our precious environment while campaigning for the importance of good, clean and fair food”, continued Roberta.
Roberta concludes “We are very proud to be Slow Food Supporters and we hope many more small producers and local food companies will join the Slow Food Scheme and keep campaigning for the value of ‘Good, clean and fair food’ all these small steps can make a bit difference for healthier and happier communities in UK and abroad”.
