![]() I have been contacted recently by a few of you about our packaging ... especially the many of you which are keen to avoid or reduce their plastic footprint and I am writing this blog post to share and respond to your concerns. Firstly, I hear you and I share the concerns around how much plastic there is in our life (and in our oceans and environment ... ) . I too try to reduce the use of plastic as much as possible and as part of our past activities we have promoted and donated jute bags to our customers to this end. We do not buy any packaging or bubble wrap for posting from our shop - we source secondhand one from shops and others. Is this enough? Of course is not. We are thinking about making our packaging more sustainable (and we are researching towards this). However, here is the sad news - which many of you might not be aware of when buying our products. We are only a tiny company. When we started in 2011 - when fighting plastic was not so much on everyone's agenda (not a justification ... I know), we designed our brand and packaging and bought a large roll of this material (as it was printed just for us - the minimum quantity was still a huge amount ... ) ... we are still using the same large roll and material, we have not commissioned a new one. We recently decided to stop stocking our Nespresso and Lavazza compatible ranges. We have a few left but we will not restock as we could not justify the amount of plastic waste we were encouraging. We support alternative use of our packaging, read about how you can use them for gardening and we commend people doing ecobricks across the country. We support organic farming through our product and certification. Of course all of this is not enough and we want to do more ... but we wanted to share our thoughts with you and let you know that we are working on a more sustainable solution (cardboard, glass ... ) but that the plastic packaging you are buying now is not increasing the amount of plastic being produced, is using up plastic that has been commissioned 8 years ago and we are still committed to using rather than disposing of to look more eco-friendly. As always ... keen to hear from you and learn from you.
