Did you know that coffee does not help your mouth? First, it can cause stain on your teeth. In fact, pigments from dark-colored drinks such as coffee, tea, and soda can adhere to the cracks and ridges of your teeth and can cause permanent yellowing stains on them.
Second, caffeine can cause "dry mouth". Laurie Dove states “having a dry mouth is more than an inconvenience. When there is not enough saliva, the conditions are ripe for bacteria and fungi to thrive, and this can lead to bad breath”. You can read the full articlehere.
All of this is not true if you drink Orzo♥Coffee! Our healthy drink won't stain your teeth, but will in fact help them!
Scientific research pubblished in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry demostrates the ability of barley coffee to create a barrier stopping decay bacteria (oral streptococci) adhering to your teeth.
Italian researchers showed ”that barley coffee (BC), a beverage made from roasted barley, interferes with S. mutans adsorption to hydroxyapatite (HA), and we identified its antiadhesive components.” (full article) The results suggested that drinking Orzo Coffee can protect your teeth from the colonization of cariogenic bacteria. The good news is there is no bad breath either! Some of you might have noticed we have been a little slow and silent in the last few months. Sorry if you missed us, but we have been busy welcoming a new little member to our Orzo♥Coffee team. Our little Leonardo was born on January the 12th and has already become a lovely mascot for our Orzo♥Coffee team.
