The perfect recipe to celebrate Carnevale!  As you might know the period before lent in Italy is celebrated as 'Carnevale' ... it is the period of dressing-up, masks and jokes and of course lots of cakes (mostly deep fried).
To celebrate Carnevale we share a recipe for Castagnole (translate as little chestnuts) traditional little cakes that are prepared and enjoyed in this period all over Italy.

 This is a special recipe for those wintery days as the zest of the orange reminds me of when we were little and mum used to place orange peels on the wooden stove to give the house a nice scent.
